A healthcare provider in Nottingham is seeking a motivated clinical scientist to support the MR & US Physics groups within the Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering department. Job description
Overview

We are seeking a motivated clinical scientist to join the MR & US Physics groups within the Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, for a fixed term period of 12 months. This is a new opportunity for an ambitious individual with experience of MR & US physics within healthcare, to contribute to the development and improvement of a wide range of advanced MR techniques supporting a comprehensive clinical service. With the expansion of MR & US services regionally through the current Community Diagnostic Centres programme, we expect a permanent position to become available during this fixed-term duration.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist scientific support for complex MR safety issues, MR & US quality assurance programmes, assessment of image artefacts, optimisation of image quality and protocols, and related image analysis.
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams; advise on equipment management and maintain related documentation.
  • Develop advanced knowledge in a speciality of MRI, and maintain broad knowledge of current US systems and techniques.
  • Initiate and undertake research and development in imaging physics, including self-initiated projects, departmental collaboration, and external partnerships; co-supervise University student projects where applicable.
  • Support collaboration with the University of Nottingham MR groups; participate in joint activities as appropriate.
  • Split duties: 80% MRI and 20% Ultrasound.
