Main duties of the job

Responsible for day-to-day running of clinical research projects, in particular for patient recruitment, enrolment, follow-up and data entry and answering any queries.

Ensure the safety of all participants through review and management of blood results, adverse events and protocol compliance.

They will raise the profile of our portfolio and studies on the wards, outpatient areas and the wider community groups.

Job description
Job responsibilities

To oversee the delivery of a portfolio of interventional clinical trials that test new treatments for Respiratory and Immunology patients. These will include a variety of academic and clinical studies from phase 2 to phase 4.

Duties include consenting patients into trials, working with clinical teams on wards and outpatients, and collaborating with our experienced research nursing team to support care and ensure the safety of patients in those trials.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to join Immunology and Respiratory outpatient clinics for overall medical training and gaining experience within the specialties. There may also be opportunities to support a range of other trials within R & I where medical input/cover is required, although this depends on the size of the respiratory and immunology portfolio.

  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent (as required to complete Foundation competences) by intended start date
  • Is up to date and fit to practise safely and is aware of own training needs
  • All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
  • If applicants believe they have adequate communication skills, but do not have evidence in one of the above forms, they must provide alternative supporting evidence of language skills

  • 24 months experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competences, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice
