Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Psychologist to join our Community Paediatric team. This post will involve working within our Community Paediatric MDT, providing comprehensive assessments of children with possible Autism Spectrum Disorders. There will also be scope to develop some initial psychological intervention pathways within the Community Paediatric service for children and young people with neurodevelopmental and complex neurological disorders. We welcome applications from newly qualified clinicians and current band 7s with a strong interest in working with this client group who are looking to progress to an 8a role.

Responsibilities
  • Work autonomously and as part of a team to provide high quality assessments for possible Autism Spectrum Disorders within an assessment protocol for children seen by the Community Paediatric multidisciplinary team.
  • Act as case co-ordinator as required and contribute to the assessment of complex diagnostic cases.
  • Work with individuals as well as families, and with external agencies such as schools, mental health services and social care.
  • Contribute to service development, innovation and improvement within the Clinical Psychology team.
Qualifications and skills
  • Clinical Psychologist with the ability to work sensitively and thoughtfully with children, young people and their families.
  • Excellent communication skills and the capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary context.

Team and environment

The successful candidate will join a small Paediatric Clinical Psychology team which offers good opportunities for professional support and development. We regularly have trainees on placement with us from local ClinPsyD programmes. We are keen for all members of the Clinical Psychology team to contribute to service development, innovation and improvement.
