Job description

Experience of delivering specialist assessments in Autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, complex needs, and/or challenging behaviours. Knowledge of developmental trauma and supporting families with children who are looked after or adopted.

Main duties of the job

We are keen to hear from qualified psychologists interested in working with children and young people with mental health problems, trauma, and adverse childhood experiences, including Looked After Children. You should be confident to work independently as a Clinical Psychologist under supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and within a multidisciplinary team including Psychiatry, OT, Nursing, and Teachers. You will also supervise, train, and oversee others to improve psychologically informed practices within the home.

Cambian Meeko House is a 12-bedded children's residential home for 12-18-year-olds with ongoing mental health needs and challenging behaviours that may hinder community functioning without support. The site includes Home Tree School to support educational needs.

We are recruiting suitably qualified Clinical Psychologists (NHS band 78a equivalent) for varied and rewarding work across different contexts, with opportunities to shape and improve the service.

This role is part-time, up to 32 hours, flexible, and weekdays only. Responsibilities include:

• Providing psychological interventions for children and young people using evidence-based practices.
• Supervising assistant psychologists and psychology graduates (Therapeutic Practitioners).
• Conducting assessments, including risk assessments, and formulating support plans.
• Delivering care plans involving psychological treatment and case management.
• Training support staff in psychologically informed practices.
• Implementing and monitoring evidence-based interventions, evaluating outcomes, and supporting colleagues.
• Making recommendations to the multidisciplinary team regarding assessments and interventions.
• Providing clinical assessments and interventions following policies and NICE guidelines.
• Participating in multidisciplinary meetings, maintaining records, and engaging in supervision and service development.

The psychologist will be part of a wider MDT and will have access to a Consultant Psychologist at a sister site in Newmarket.

Candidate Profile

Postgraduate doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent), HCPC registration, experience with child and adult safeguarding, clinical outcomes monitoring, risk assessment, and strong interpersonal and IT skills. Ability to manage complex caseloads, deliver specialist assessments in Autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, and challenging behaviours. Knowledge of developmental trauma and supporting looked after/adopted children.
