Position Purpose

Prepare prescription orders accurately and timely under pharmacist supervision.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year experience as pharmacy technician or medical office (biller, coder, office assistance, prior authorization/certification).
• Familiarity with drugs for chronic/debilitating illnesses.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Missouri Pharmacy Technician license OR ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: Missouri Pharmacy Technician license or equivalent state license.

Responsibilities

• Interact with various departments to provide accurately dispensed prescriptions on a timely basis.
• Work under direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Perform prescription data entry functions (preQA) by viewing images and inputting prescription information directly into the system.
• Prepare and submit requests for prescription refills.
• Initiate clarification requests.
• Receive verbal instructions from prescribers as allowed by pharmacy regulation.
• Complete reorder processing for timely filling of prescription refills.
• Comply with safety, quality assurance, accreditation, legal, state, and federal regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Complete work list according to guidelines set by Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
