Job description

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work within both our CAMHS team. We would also welcome applications from candidates nearing qualification.

We support children and young people aged from 0 to 18 years and their carers/families and offer a range of highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions, which often includes multi-agency work with our partners.

Here in Argyll and Bute we are looking for high calibre clinicians, who place emphasis on a good work life balance, who can be creative and responsive and who work well in small teams. We are offering the chance to really use all of your skills, with a good mix of clinical work with supervision and consultation responsibilities and opportunities to develop skills in service development.

We also have very good links with national bodies and close links with training courses and offer placements to trainees from the Doctoral, EPP and MSc courses.

Relocation expenses are available for the right candidates who meet the NHS Highland criteria.

Candidates must have a Post Graduate Doctoral level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical/Counselling Psychology, be registered with the HCPC and have experience of working with children and young people with complex problems. Experience or training in relation to eating disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders or trauma would be an advantage.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES
  • Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part-time hours will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
