Job Summary

Surrey Child and Family Health are seeking a Clinical Lead within the Developmental Paediatric Services. The role has an allocation of 5 PAs and is an excellent opportunity for an established Developmental Paediatric Consultant or Associate Specialist to step into a leadership role and develop management skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Developmental Paediatrics service, including service planning, improvement, and goal setting.
  • Lead and support the multidisciplinary team through effective job planning, appraisals, supervision, and professional development.
  • Oversee clinical governance, quality assurance, risk management, incident review, and CQC compliance.
  • Manage day‑to‑day operational delivery, including complaints, budgets, and senior leadership forums.
  • Work in partnership with HCRG, the Business Unit Head, and senior leaders to assure safe, effective, and sustainable services.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and high clinical standards across the service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, external providers, and key stakeholders.
Qualifications – Essential
  • UK‑recognised medical degree (MBChB/MBBS) with full GMC registration and work permit if required.
  • MRCPCH or equivalent; on the Specialist Register for Paediatrics or within 6 months of CCT.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Community Paediatrics.
  • Level 3 safeguarding children training and experience.
  • Excellent clinical, leadership, team‑working, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and proficient IT skills.
Qualifications – Desirable
  • CCT in Community Child Health.
  • Training and experience in standardised autism (e.g., ADOS, ADI‑R, 3di) and developmental assessments.
  • Experience in ADHD assessment and management.
  • Experience in child protection assessments, looked‑after children assessments, and SEND advice.
  • Track record in service improvement, audit, quality improvement, teaching/training, and published research.
