Clinical Governance Support Nurse/AHP

We are looking for a Clinical Governance Support Nurse/AHP to join us!

You will work across the planned care/Surgical division as a member of the Clinical Governance team, providing support to the Lead Clinical Governance Coordinator and Associate Director of Nursing responsible for the division.

You will develop the knowledge and skills required to provide support to the lead Clinical Governance Coordinator in advising on all aspects of Clinical Governance, promoting a culture that upholds quality and safety to ensure that the patient safety, clinical governance and quality agenda is proactively managed and consistently delivered across the division.

In addition, you will have an integral role in the introduction and embedding of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) agenda across the multidisciplinary teams within the planned care/surgical division.

Main duties of the job
  • The post holder will support the lead Clinical Governance Co‑ordinator, Associate Director of Nursing and Medical Governance Lead in the effective management of incident reporting.
  • Investigations and co‑ordination of the division in meeting the regulatory requirements of external standards and inspections such as those undertaken by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
  • Supporting the implementation of the PSIRF agenda.
  • Provide highly specialist advice, support and guidance to managers and clinicians in relation to a range of issues including governance, assurance, risk, with support from the Lead Clinical Governance Co‑ordinator and Trust Governance Lead.
  • Communicate confidently, clearly and concisely; write strategies, reports, policies, leaflets for staff and other stakeholders.
  • Liaise frequently with area leads to support them in managing local incidents within agreed timeframes.
  • Act as a team player, actively listen, and show empathy when needed.

We work closely with our Medical, Matron and Operational Manager colleagues to support the implementation of the Clinical Governance programme.

  • Evidence of Post Graduate Qualification/Experience
  • Evidence of continued management/development
  • Recognised teaching/assessment qualification
  • Recent experience in governance and incident management
Knowledge
  • Substantial experience working in the NHS
  • Experience of prioritising complex workloads
  • Understanding of NHS organisation and culture
  • Knowledge and understanding of the core components associated with the NHS Risk Management Agenda and Patient Safety First
