Clinical Fellow Obstetrics and Gynaecology ST3-5

The closing date is 14 October 2025

A 9 month fixed term Obstetrics and Gynaecology registrar job based at University Hospital Dorset working across both the Poole and Bournemouth sites. There may be the opportunity to extend to 12 months.

An opportunity has arisen for an obstetrics and gynaecology registrar position based at University Hospital Dorset. The post is ideal for building upon skills in general obstetrics and gynaecology. The post holder will work as a member of our team comprising of 24 consultants, 16 registrars and 12 SHO's. The applicant would take part in providing in and out of hours cover to our patient population. The post will involve elective gynaecology in the form of clinics and theatres as well as acute and elective obstetrics. Where possible specialist interests may be accessible.

Main duties of the job

The applicant should have at least 6 months experience working at registrar level in the UK. They should also be in possession of their MRCOG part 1.

Excellent communication skills are essential as is the ability to work as a team.

The successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the Department's governance programme, including participation in department meetings, safety initiatives and morbidity and mortality meetings. The successful candidates will be expected to fully engage with Appraisal as part of GMC Revalidation.

Day to day work would be within the department in general with a 1:8 oncall commitment. This is with 2 registrars present out of hours.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Clinical Skills and training in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to that of a UK trained ST4
  • At least 1 year of NHS experience 6 months of which have been on a registrar rota
  • Ability to offer acute Obstetric and Gynaecology care
  • Evidence of teaching of Junior Trainees
  • Evidence of involvement in audit and quality improvement projects
  • Evidence of involvement in risk management
Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • A minimum of part 1 MRCOG
  • Compliant with all mandatory training
