A leading NHS Trust in Birmingham is seeking a Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Anaesthesia. This role offers senior sub-specialty training with extensive exposure to child anaesthesia practices. The Fellow will engage in various surgical specialties and partake in research, audit, and clinical teaching. Candidates must have full GMC registration and relevant qualifications including FRCA. Opportunities for career progression and training in paediatric anaesthesia are key highlights of this position. The closing date for applications is January 1, 2026.
The closing date is 01 January 2026
This post is designed to provide senior sub‑specialty training in Paediatric Anaesthesia. It may be possible to spend part of this time in PICU and paediatric retrieval. The posts should attract those wanting to specialise in paediatric anaesthesia at a post‑CCT level and will provide extensive training and experience in anaesthesia for all paediatric surgical specialties. There will also be opportunities for clinical research and audit.
The appointees will undertake a mixture of supervised solo work in a number of specialties depending on their level of comfort as well as participate in training lists with consultants in all surgical specialties. We aim to ensure maximum exposure to all specialties but individual preferences in areas of personal interest will be honoured. There will be opportunities and time available for research, teaching and audit activities. The appointees will take part in the theatre on call rota including nights and weekends – this is shared between Fellows and the 16 trainees. There will also be the opportunity, when ready, to enter the ‘Step‑up’ on‑call rota whereby the Fellow will manage the emergency list, supervising junior residents, under the more distant supervision of the allocated consultant.
