Job description

This is a whole-time post for a Clinical Fellow in Clinical Haematology at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day care of haematology in‑patients on William Budd Ward (22 beds) and the shared oncology ward.
  • Clerk patients admitted for inpatient chemotherapy and a limited number admitted directly with emergency problems such as acute leukaemia or neutropenic sepsis.
  • Assist Senior Registrars (SpRs) on the Day Unit, including patient review and performing investigations such as bone marrow aspirate, trephine biopsies, and lumbar puncture – appropriate training will be provided.

Clinical Fellow in Haematology – a post requiring clinical experience in haematology, including inpatient and day unit practice.

Location

Royal United Hospital, Bath – William Budd Ward (22 beds) and shared oncology ward.

Service Overview

The majority of the workload involves patients with haematological malignancies including acute and chronic leukaemias, high and low‑grade lymphomas, myeloma and myelodysplasia. The service level is 3, covering chemotherapy and autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
