Job description
Responsibilities
  • Assist in running the clinical CMR service under the direction of the Clinical Lead, being fully trained in CMR safety, delivering a safe NHS service and being present at CMR scans.
  • Depending on the mutually agreed post duration, gain competence in advanced CMR techniques useful to an advanced heart failure and cardiothoracic transplant centre, including quantitative parametric mapping techniques and CMR of patients with cardiac devices, and achieve Level EACVI 2 or 3 accreditation in CMR as appropriate.
  • No formalised research duties in job plan. However, may be involved in CMR research and peer‑reviewed publication depending on individual and agreed duration.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care at all times.
  • Liaise with the Chief Technologist in CMR regarding clinical service issues; liaise with the Cross‑sectional Imaging Superintendent, physics and clinical staff to ensure safe operation of all imaging equipment; observe infection control measures; observe safety regulations including Local Rules for CMR and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Remove patient property when necessary, train radiographers, technologists and other doctors in MR scanning equipment and CMR techniques, welcome visitors, maintain good working relationships with multidisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with staff and patients, use MR scanning equipment safely, report equipment failures, maintain confidentiality of image data, record all scan episodes, fully train in duties, participate in the continuing development programme, attend departmental meetings and perform other duties under the guidance of the CMR Clinical Lead.
