Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated State Registered Clinical Embryologist (or final year STP student) to join our laboratory team at Cambridge IVF. Our state of the art NHS fertility centre offers a full range of diagnostic and treatment techniques including EmbryoScope culture, a successful gamete and embryo cryopreservation program and advanced methods for sperm preparation, selection and injection. We offer high quality evidence based treatment to NHS funded patients and also to those self-funding their care at exceptional value. This is one of the most forward thinking units in the UK with a commitment to high level research and development and links to local research groups within the Cambridge BioMedical Campus, The Sanger Institute and beyond.

Applicants should possess a First or Upper Second Class Biological Sciences degree, a relevant postgraduate qualification and be state registered as a Clinical Embryologist. They should demonstrate a proven track record in Clinical Embryology. Preference is given to those skilled in ICSI; training in ICSI will be provided to the right candidate if needed.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a range of assisted conception and diagnostic services in the East of England’s largest NHS tertiary referral centre.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of efficient embryology and andrology services within the terms of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act and the HFEA Code of Practice.
  • Assist in the safe operation of the facility cryostore, its audit and generation of paperwork for inspection.
  • Collaborate with laboratory, nursing, medical teams and all colleagues to deliver high quality patient care and clinical excellence.
Qualifications
  • State registered as a Clinical Scientist with HCPC (or in the last year of STP program), a member of ACE, and in good standing with both organisations.
  • Biomedical degree (preferably Biological Sciences) with postgraduate qualification and proven track record in Clinical Embryology.
  • Preference for ICSI experience; training provided if not possessed.
  • Note: Applications from pre-registrant embryologists in the final year of the UK STP program are welcomed. Band 6 advancing to band 7 on UK State Registration.
Work Arrangements and Additional Details
  • Working hours are 07:30–17:30 over four long days; weekend and out of hours work required and you may be on a laboratory on-call rota.
  • The position may involve Home Office visa considerations; information provided in the Applicant Information Pack and during recruitment.
