Overview

Do you have expertise in client management, with a passion for building relationships and driving growth? Charles River Discovery are excited to be recruiting for a Senior Client Manager to be a part of our High Peak, UK site. The Senior Client Manager will utilize a deep scientific understanding along with demonstrable client management and sales acumen to build and maintain strong client relationships within the CRO space. This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced Client Manager/Account Manager with the relevant scientific background and experience to be able to drive growth and represent Charles River Discovery to internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Do
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, answering scientific service and technology-related questions.
  • Interpret and clarify customer study designs for proposals and contracts, ensuring that the scientific content is accurate.
  • Develop pricing strategies and negotiate agreements to optimize company revenue.
  • Drive initiatives to grow existing business and win new opportunities.
  • Provide insights into forecasting services and ensure maximum capacity utilisation by collaborating with operations. Work independently and deliver high-quality results under deadlines.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to influence product and service adoption.
  • Develop and qualify leads through proactive outreach and prospecting.
  • Prepare accurate forecasts for assigned accounts and territories.
  • Manage proposals, bids and Statements of Work (SOW) in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Utilise CRM tools (Salesforce) for pipeline management and documentation.
  • Coordinate multi-site proposals and ensure timely follow-up with clients.
  • Represent the company at conferences, trade shows and client meetings.
  • Lead webinars, training sessions and internal sales meetings.
  • Support process improvements and harmonisation initiatives across the sales team.
  • Have knowledge of competitor profiles and market positioning strategies.
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue and booking targets.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a BSc/MSc in a Biological Science, PhD preferred in a relevant discipline.
  • Proven track record of working within the CRO/Biotech/Pharma space, ideally with laboratory experience and a clear transition into a client facing/account management role.
  • Demonstrable ability to present complex scientific data and technical know-how to clients, with strong skills in creating proposals and supporting on pricing strategies.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage workload effectively.
  • High levels of self-motivation and proactivity under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic working environment.
  • Ability to deal with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Track record of consistently achieving or over-achieving targets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (Salesforce is preferred).
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
