Job summary

A leading UK healthcare provider is seeking a Clerical Assistant to provide administrative support and assistance in patient care at the University Hospital of North Midlands. Clerical Assistant

University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship for this role. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill or salary threshold for sponsorship. If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role; however, it is important to note that UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa. You must also have at least six months until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

Role Summary

The role of this clinical support worker offers a variety of opportunities whilst maintaining the safety, welfare and dignity of patients at all times. Front‑facing department receptionist with clerical responsibilities and the need to utilise IT skills.

Main duties of the job
  • To receive messages and telephone calls, relaying information correctly and promptly to the relevant staff
  • Report any departmental issues to the nurse in charge
  • Meet and greet patients attending the urology nurse‑led ambulatory department at the department reception
  • Undertake routine administrative duties and utilise IT skills
  • Develop insight into the variation of nurse‑led activities
  • Housekeeper responsibilities
  • All employees of the Trust are expected to take part in the appraisal process each year

Job responsibilities

To complete assigned duties under the direction/supervision of a qualified nurse in the ward area: participate in the care of patients, assisting with hygiene needs, fluid balance; transfer patients from inpatient wards into ambulatory settings; observe the patient, reporting any changes or concerns to the nurse in charge; seek clarification from the nurse in charge of the area on any issue or instruction before proceeding; assist qualified staff with the preparation of equipment for and/or treatment of a patient; act as chaperone or assist medical staff whilst examining patients, within the remit of local clinical protocols; and maintain a good understanding of urology nurse‑led clinics.
