Job description

We are looking to recruit a reliable and hardworking Cleaner to join our Estates and Facilities team on a part‑time basis. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our College provides a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a term‑time only position, working 38 weeks per year, Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 9.30am. Working under the direction of the Cleaning Supervisor or Team Leader, you will carry out a full range of internal and external cleaning duties, reporting any faults, hazards, or incidents as required. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work and is committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain cleanliness of designated areas to agreed standards
  • Clean classrooms, offices, laboratories, corridors, stairways, entrances, and event spaces
  • Carry out high and low dusting of furniture, equipment, and surfaces
  • Vacuum hard and soft flooring and clean vents and grills
  • Mop floors using dry and damp methods
  • Clean internal glass, mirrors, windows, and doors
  • Undertake occasional deep cleaning tasks, including toilets and specialist cleans during holiday periods
  • Report faults, damage, incidents, and potential hazards in line with procedures
  • Follow all Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH requirements
  • Assist with building access, security, and care of cleaning equipment and materials
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and support the College’s aims and objectives
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or willingness to work towards)
  • Experience in a cleaning role within an education, industrial, or similar environment
  • Ability to carry out physical and manual work, including prolonged standing
  • Understanding of Health & Safety practices and safe systems of work
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet deadlines
  • Good communication and customer service skills
