Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for three compassionate and dedicated Classroom Assistants to join a supportive SEN school and college, working with students in small groups and on a one‑to‑one basis. The school specialises in supporting young people with speech and language difficulties and cerebral palsy, providing a nurturing environment tailored to individual needs. Set within a stunning woodland setting, students benefit from a unique Forest School programme where they learn practical outdoor skills, including fire‑making, while building independence, confidence and teamwork. Role Details
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Term‑time only
  • £13.69 per hour, paid weekly
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑to‑one or small group support to students with special educational needs, including those with learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory impairments, and behavioural challenges.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons and activities that meet the individual learning needs and abilities of students with SEN, adapting teaching resources and strategies as necessary.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs), working collaboratively with teachers and external professionals to monitor progress and adjust support strategies as required.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, providing emotional support and guidance to help them manage their feelings, behaviour, and social interactions.
  • Support students during transitions between activities, classes, and environments, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and included in all aspects of school life.
  • Assist with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources, materials, and equipment, ensuring they are accessible and appropriate for students with SEN.
