Overview
Our client is one of the UK's leading Ground engineering contractors with a new division in Scotland geared towards civil engineering projects. They require an Estimator to assist in securing new work across Scotland, targeting the civil engineering industry sector.
Responsibilities
- Pricing of civil engineering works to secure new projects for the Scotland Projects Division.
- Prepare accurate budgets, cost advice, and formal tenders that are clearly detailed, competitive, and returned within deadlines.
- Ensure high quality, competitive proposals are delivered to the client in a manner consistent with the Division's strategy and the overall Business Unit's procedures.
- Lead the divisional estimating team, ensuring all leads and tenders are recorded and tracked on SalesForce; acknowledge enquiries and return within agreed timescales or provide an appropriate decline and follow up with the client.
- Lead with proposing tendering strategies to the New Business Manager, Divisional Director and the wider team.
- Attend the tendering meetings on a weekly basis.
- Support the submission of Prequalification Questionnaires and record progress of these submissions at the weekly meeting.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and prospective clients and engineering/cost consultants to promote further business pipeline opportunities alongside the New Business Manager.
- Seek out new business opportunities alongside the New Business Manager and sell all existing services.
- Increase the frequency and value/margin of revenue-generating tenders to assist with the overall growth of the Division and, in particular, new business lines.
- Coordinate with the Commercial Team to review commercial terms during tendering and/or contract negotiations.
- Seek support from the Divisional Contracts Manager / Head of Operations / Engineering Manager for technical and operational input for tenders.
- New business focus: Ensure the Engineering department is supported in identifying and producing innovative and value-engineered solutions and that all identified risks are mitigated.
- Ensure correct methods, outputs and plant/resources are selected to deliver the solution.
- Target sustainable markets and sell new techniques and sustainable solutions to customers.
