Job description
Build the Future of Energy Infrastructure

Are you ready to take your engineering career to the next level? We're looking for a talented and forward-thinking Civil & Structural Engineer to join our expanding Energy business. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to some of the UK's most exciting energy and infrastructure projects — from next-generation nuclear and renewable developments to advanced industrial facilities supporting the UK's Net Zero ambitions.

Civil & Structural Engineer

You’ll join a team of dedicated professionals tackling complex engineering challenges with creativity, integrity, and collaboration. Our projects are diverse, technically demanding, and purpose-driven — offering the perfect environment for you to grow your expertise, shape your career, and make a real impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll work on a broad range of civil and structural engineering projects across the full lifecycle — from feasibility and concept design to detailed design, construction support, and delivery.

You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, innovative, and sustainable engineering solutions that meet our clients’ needs and align with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the analysis, design, and preparation of civil and structural engineering deliverables for nuclear, renewable, and energy-related projects.
  • Contributing to all phases of projects — from early bids and feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction.
  • Preparing technical documentation such as Basis of Design reports, calculations, specifications, safety documentation, and design substantiation reports.
  • Conducting finite element modelling and structural analysis using modern tools and verification processes.
  • Participating in site visits, inspections, and design reviews, ensuring constructability and compliance.
  • Engaging with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to understand needs, resolve challenges, and deliver exceptional results.
  • Promoting a safety‑first culture and ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation, helping us deliver smarter, more efficient engineering solutions.
About You

We’re looking for someone who is motivated, technically strong, and enjoys working collaboratively to solve complex problems. You’ll be a proactive communicator who can build trusted relationships and bring ideas to life.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Degree‑qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (BEng, MEng, BSc, MSc).
  • Working towards or already holding Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (we’ll support you every step of the way).
  • Solid understanding of civil and structural design principles, methods, and relevant codes and standards (e.g. ACI, ASCE, AISC).
  • Experience using finite element analysis software and related tools for design validation and verification.
  • Good awareness of health and safety legislation, risk assessment, and design safety principles.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary project environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
Desirable
  • Experience within the nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with UK Nuclear Licensing and the Generic Design Assessment process.
  • Understanding of BIM environments and digital design workflows.
What We Offer

We know that our success depends on our people. That’s why we invest in creating a culture where you can thrive — professionally and personally.

Our Benefits Include
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Free single medical cover and digital GP service.
  • Enhanced parental leave pay and family‑friendly policies.
  • Reimbursement for professional memberships and continued learning.
  • Support for achieving professional registration (IEng, CEng).
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support work‑life balance.
  • Opportunities to work on diverse, high‑impact projects that make a difference.
Where You’ll Work

You’ll be based at one of our key UK Energy offices — Newcastle, Warrington, or Knutsford — with the flexibility to work from home part of the week. We’re proud to support hybrid and flexible working arrangements that fit your lifestyle.
