Job description
Overview

Take the lead in global nuclear safety. Are you ready to take up a vital role in shaping some of our exciting projects? How about joining our talented team, where everyone has a voice, and together we face our clients' problems head-on. It's a diverse and inclusive work environment where world-class talent knows no distinctions. Flexible and remote working is a central part of our culture. Talk to us about what's ideal for you – from reduced weeks to buying more leave over school holidays. If you're returning from a career break, ask us how we can help you transition back into work with us.

Role and Team

As a Civil Structural Engineer in our Nuclear & Power Division, you'll be playing a central role, creating spaces and places that matter. We've been in the sector for over 50 years and delivered over 7 million workhours, making us a prominent nuclear new-build organisation in the UK. In this highly technical role, you'll work end-to-end on a broad range of projects with opportunities to grow. You will be working a minimum of 3 days per week from a Power New Build office or client office.

Your purpose

Are you an innovative civil or structural engineer capable of agile, lateral thinking and developing a wide range of technical and management skills to deliver exciting projects? Do you aspire to develop in a niche industry utilising your design, finite element analysis and assessment experience, plus client engagement and engineering management skills?

Are you nearly or recently chartered with a recognised civil or structural engineering institution (IStructE, ICE or other) in your current job, but want to invigorate your career? We would support this transition with mentors and would like to hear from you.

What we are looking for

We are looking for full-time civil and structural engineers to join our growing team in our Bristol office to lead a wide range of new build nuclear projects including Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, SMRs and future fusion technologies. You will cultivate strong working relationships and develop your technical skills and management expertise to deliver outstanding results for our clients.

Experience

Your experience in any of the following would be beneficial, but not all are required:

  • Relevant professional experience in civil-structural design and analysis (steelwork and/or reinforced concrete), research and development, project engineering or design consultancy.
  • Ability to undertake and/or review the design of new building structures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively from our offices and across client sites to understand clients’ needs and deliver to time, cost and quality.
What you can bring
  • Interest in developing technical capability into a specialist area or supporting a team on world-renowned projects.
  • Curiosity to influence project outcomes through a questioning mind.
  • Ability to translate complex problems into concise and proportionate solutions.
At AtkinsRéalis you will aspire to
  • Develop your technical proficiency in civil-structural engineering.
  • Contribute to world-renowned projects and utilise digital technology.
  • Innovate on projects, inspire colleagues, and impress clients.
  • Become a leader, nurture client relationships, and develop our staff.
