Whether working within Child Protection, Children in Need, or Children in Care, you will play a vital role in assessing risk, building relationships, coordinating multi‑agency support, and ensuring every child’s voice is heard.

You will be supported by experienced managers, reflective supervision, a strong team culture, and a commitment to high‑quality, child‑centred practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989/2004, including Child in Need, Section 47 enquiries, and ongoing safeguarding work.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of children in need of protection, support, or long‑term care.
  • Build meaningful, trusting relationships with children, young people, and families to understand their experiences and promote positive change.
  • Lead and participate in multi‑agency meetings such as strategy discussions, ICPCs, core groups, LAC reviews, and planning meetings.
  • Develop and implement outcome‑focused plans that ensure children’s safety, stability, and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with foster carers, residential homes, schools, health, police, and voluntary services.
  • Prepare clear, accurate case records, assessments, and court‑ready reports within required timescales.
  • Promote stability and permanency for children in care, including contributing to care planning, life‑story work, and pathway planning for care leavers.
  • Advocate for children’s rights and ensure their voice is central in all decision‑making.
  • Participate in supervision and contribute to a supportive, reflective team culture.
About You
  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding thresholds, risk assessment, and statutory responsibilities in children’s services.
  • Skilled at building rapport with children and families, even in challenging situations.
  • Confident managing complex caseloads and working collaboratively with multi‑agency partners.
