Contract: Locum

Pay Rate: £35.00 per hour

Location: Sale Waterside Offices, Trafford

Working Pattern: Hybrid

Sheldon Phillips are working with Trafford Council who are seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their Families First Service, specialising in work with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) and Age Assessments.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Trafford’s dedicated Child in Need service, which focuses on delivering high-quality assessments and interventions on a locality basis. The team provides early and effective support to children and families, ensuring consistency and stability across the borough.

What You Can Expect:
  • A supportive and collaborative team culture, working alongside experienced practitioners and managers.
  • Manageable caseloads to ensure quality, relational practice.
  • A hybrid working pattern with a minimum of 3 days in the office.
  • Opportunity to develop practice within UASC and age assessment work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Undertake Child and Family Assessments and Section 47 enquiries.
  • Manage a varied caseload of children supported through Child in Need planning.
  • Complete Age Assessments for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).
  • Contribute to the duty rota as part of a supportive locality-based team.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with families and multi-agency professionals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely case recording and planning.
Requirements:
  • SWE Registration and recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Proven post-qualified experience within Children’s Services.
  • Experience or training in UASC and Age Assessments is essential.
  • Strong assessment, safeguarding, and relational practice skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a hybrid model and on a duty rota.
