Qualifications

  • Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker is desirable.
  • Must have a full UK manual driver's license.
  • Must be over the age of 21.
  • Ability to commute to Hemel Hempstead is required.

This is a FANTASTIC opportunity to join a supportive team at a recently revamped children's home in Hemel Hempstead. As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you'll play a key role by empowering and caring for young people (aged 8-18) facing Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

Salary: £28,558 - £32,986 (sleep allowance included)

Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

Hours: Full-Time

Contract: Permanent

Shift pattern: Varied Shift Pattern with 2 sleep-ins a week!

Example - Monday 8am-11pm / sleep-in / Tuesday 8:30am finish.

Responsibilities of a Children's Residential Support Worker:
  • To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives, depending on their age.
  • To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
  • Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives, such as Psychologists.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker, or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • You must be able to commute to Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
