As a member of a team of Child & Play care workers led by the Children’s Project Manager, support and assist in planning, organising and implementing a programme of activities that meet the aims of the centre. To promote the image and work of the centre as a whole.
Responsibilities
- Support and assist the team of carers in providing a stimulating and varied programme of play, in order to enhance each child’s abilities; in a way which ensures the safety and well-being of the children at all times.
- Cultivate relationships with parents, carers and guardians by including them at all levels. Keep them fully informed of their child’s overall development within the centre and of centre activities.
- Support and assist the provision of full care for the children, including provision of meals and refreshments. Follow the policies and procedures on i.e. intimate care or bottle preparation for example.
- Assist with collecting the children from school and safe delivery to parents/named carers.
- Assist in sleep routines. Assist with light housekeeping for example ensuring the changing areas are clean and tidy, dust, empty rubbish bins.
- Ensure playrooms are cleaned daily; records of this must be maintained. Brush and mop playrooms each evening. In general, ensure the setting is always clean.
- Assist with laundry i.e. bedding, tea towels, dolls clothing, dress up etc.
- Support and assist the organisation and supervision of groups on outdoor play activities, trips etc.
- Attend staff meetings, actively contribute and participate in the sharing of information, evaluation and forward planning. Attend staff training and meetings with parents as required.
- Administer first aid as appropriate, if required.
- Be prepared to work flexible rota hours as agreed with the Children’s Project Manager in order to provide adequate staff cover at all times. Remember you are contracted hours not times and days.
- Work within agreed policies. Assist and adhere to the correct implementation of the centre’s policies, e.g. safeguarding, whistleblowing, behaviour management to name a few.
- Ensure you are aware of the national minimum standards in relation to daycares and how they shape our setting.
- Adhere to all regulations regarding health & safety and environmental health.
- Undertake any other duties that assist with the overall aims and objectives of the centre and the general well-being of the children.
- Take responsibility for the security of the premises and equipment in the centre.
- Carry out day-to-day administration, record keeping and maintenance of resources, when required.
- Carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework.
- Carry out reasonable instructions given by the Children’s Project Manager or Senior Staff.
- Advise the Management of any matter requiring attention such as concerns about a child, or equipment needing repair. Do not delay; address it straight away.
- Keep strictly confidential any information regarding the children, their families or others.
- Work as part of a team supporting and engaging through all areas.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or young people.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good communication.
- The ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Safeguarding certificate.
- Minimum of Level 2 in Childcare Learning & Development.
- Full clean driving licence.
