Our mission is to usher in an era where new, advanced materials are both discovered and engineered with AI and we’ll use this to build hardware that solve major global technology challenges.

Joining Orbital means working at the intersection of deep tech, applied science, and engineering innovation. We are a truly global organisation with sites in London (UK) San Francisco (CA), Princeton (NJ) & Calgary (Canada) building teams in ML Research and Product Development to Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, offering opportunities for talented individuals who want to shape the future of materials and their applications in high-impact industries.

Role Overview

The Chief of Staff at Orbital acts as a force-multiplier for the executive team, driving high-impact initiatives and ensuring the company operates with clarity, speed and alignment. This role leads cross-functional strategic projects end-to-end, shaping execution plans and ensuring results.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Project Execution

  • Lead and execute high-priority strategic initiatives across Orbital, ensuring clear ownership, timelines, and successful outcomes.

Project Planning & Decision-Making

  • Support strategic planning, business modeling and scenario design to inform executive decisions.

  • Incubate and lead new initiatives from ideation through execution.

  • Conduct research and synthesize data into concise recommendations to support fast, high-quality decision-making.

Executive Support & Prioritisation

  • Partner closely with C-suite leaders to help define, align, and manage priorities across the organization.

  • Ensure effective information flow, preparing briefs, meeting materials and structured insights that enable the executive team to operate efficiently.

  • Support the development of strategic partnerships and business development opportunities from first meeting through contracting.

  • Represent Orbital in customer, partner and external engagements

What We’re Looking For

  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and structured problem-solving skills; proficient in financial modeling, strategic planning, and preparing board-level materials.

  • Strong ability to influence without formal authority and drive alignment across teams with competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated operational rigor, including process analysis, issue diagnosis, and development of actionable plans.

  • Bias for action and execution; thrives in fast-paced environments and manages multiple priorities and deadlines independently.

Why Join Orbital?

  • Flexible and generous paid time off

  • Excellent health, dental and vision insurance plan

  • Regular company offsites to the USA and beyond

  • The experience of working in a cutting-edge organisation dedicated to a better future
