We are seeking an exceptional individual for the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The new CFO will be committed to the mission of Middlesex University, of putting knowledge into action, and transforming lives through education, and the experiences of our students will resonate with the person we appoint to this post. The University has commenced a challenging programme to conserve cash, align income and expenditure, and stabilise and build income streams in alignment with the 2031 Strategy. The new CFO will be focused on the near and medium-term financial recovery of the University, leading negotiations with banks and other stakeholders such as local authorities and regulators. They will build a Finance team with the right balance of skills, expertise and culture, to ensure the long-term viability of the institution. As a member of the University Executive Team, reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor, the CFO plays a critical role in supporting the University’s strategic development and delivery of plans and objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the University’s financial recovery programme, conserve cash, and align income and expenditure in line with the 2031 Strategy.
  • Lead negotiations with banks and other external stakeholders, including local authorities and regulators.
  • Build and develop a Finance team with the right balance of skills, expertise and culture to ensure the long-term viability of the institution.
  • As a member of the University Executive Team, report to the Vice Chancellor and support strategic development and delivery of plans and objectives.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with external financial stakeholders.
  • Strong background in financial planning and analysis.
  • Ability to provide the Vice Chancellor and Executive team with insight for decision-making through integrated financial forecasting.
