What will I be doing as an apprentice?

We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a Process Industry Manufacturing Technician Apprentice to join the team, contributing to safe and efficient production through hands-on involvement in chemical processing, quality control, and compliance with industry standards. You will support day-to-day operations including weighing, dispensing, and mixing activities, off-loading tankers, and maintaining accurate production records.

This apprenticeship provides a foundation for a career in process manufacturing, offering practical skills in batch processing, health and safety compliance, and quality assurance, while gaining experience in continuous improvement and team communication within a supportive environment.

Summary of duties
  • You will start on the Morning shift (5:50am to 2:00pm), then move to the Day shift (7:50am to 4:00pm), and eventually the PM shift (1:50pm to 00:00). On the PM shift you will work 4 days a week.
  • Batch Processing: Carry out batch production tasks such as weighing, dispensing, and mixing chemicals using various equipment and techniques, and off-load tankers containing hazardous and flammable products.
  • Operational Standards: Work to approved methods, SOPs, and GMP, keeping the production area clean, safe, and organised.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Follow all HSE and HR policies, ensuring activities are completed safely and in line with requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct in-process quality checks, daily audits (including tank readings), and batch testing to ensure product consistency; work with quality teams to resolve issues.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production activities, manage stock levels, complete batch documentation on time, and input data into stock control systems.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Participate in daily briefings and Redzone activities, communicate with planning teams to align production schedules, and escalate concerns to the line manager when needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support site-wide initiatives that drive improvements in safety, efficiency, and product quality.
What could the future look like?

Joining Miswa Chemicals Ltd provides potential for a full-time position at the conclusion of the apprenticeship. You will gain on-the-job training and develop the competence needed for manufacturing and process operations. The programme supports a pathway to becoming a registered Science or Engineering Technician (RSci/Eng Tech) and offers opportunities to specialise in process optimisation, quality control, or maintenance, with potential progression into supervisory roles.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

About You

You are practical, level-headed, able to multitask, and attentive to detail. You should be a team player who can also work independently, curious, and eager to learn. You will bring a strong work ethic, be quick to learn, comfortable using technology and digital systems to support production and record-keeping, and approach work with commitment and reliability in a safety- and quality-focused environment.

You must be 18+ and have a full UK driving licence to be eligible for this role due to the chemicals used and shift patterns.

Experience & Qualifications

Previous manufacturing experience is not essential. The programme values attitude, curiosity, and commitment. You may be a school or college leaver or someone retraining. If you are enthusiastic, proactive, and ready to learn, you will fit in.

Eligibility

Minimum requirements follow UK Government rules for apprenticeships. Applicants must show that the program will provide new knowledge and skills beyond current qualifications. If you already hold a Level 3, degree, or related higher qualification, or substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding.

You must be over 18, not in full-time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years and have the right to work in the UK. You must be 18+ with a full UK driving licence to be eligible due to chemicals and shift patterns. If you don’t meet these requirements, express interest and we will be in touch to discuss further.
