Facility Operations

An opportunity exists for suitable individuals to work within the Facility Operations as a Chef at ourWelfare Catering sites.

2 x 37 hours per week, 52 weeks.

Facility Services and Civic Management work across the city providing catering, caretaking, school meals and welfare catering services.
We have a large team of cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chefs and chefs working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a creative professional chef with excellent leadership skills to join our team in welfare catering. You will be passionate about cooking and the people that you are cooking for.

You will be working over three sites where you will provide meals for elderly individuals who often have special diets and nutritional needs.

It is essential you hold a minimum NVQ level 2 in Food Processing and Cooking or equivalent. You must also have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of working within a busy catering environment.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has a Level 2 in Food Processing and Cooking (or equivalent)
  • Has experience of supervision or leadership of a team.
  • Can manage, nurture and motivate others.
  • Can deliver high standards of meal production and service.
  • Can demonstrate good relationships with stakeholders.
  • Is self‑motivated and able to work to fixed deadlines
  • Excellent time management.
  • Can demonstrate high standards of customer service.
  • Can develop and introduce new ideas for menus and foodservice.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills and is positive, innovative and solution‑focused.
  • Has experience of working in a catering environment.
  • A sociable and caring personality, with the ability to build positive relationships with the people we are catering for.
