Overview

Chef Supervisor
Location: St. Austell
Salary: £24,261.64 FTE (CC29) (actual salary for term-time only role: £17,729.66 plus holiday pay £2,591.26, total £20,320.92 / £14.45 per hour)
Terms & Conditions: Full Time, Term-Time Only (37 hours per week, 38 weeks per year), Support Contract
Closing Date: 19 October 2025

About the Role

Are you passionate about food, leadership, and creating a vibrant, student-focused environment? The Cornwall College Group is looking for a motivated and experienced Chef Supervisor to join our catering team at the St Austell campus. This is a hands-on role combining kitchen management, food preparation, and a focus on excellent service within an inclusive college environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support the day-to-day operations of the catering team
  • Plan rotas and place orders for food and kitchen supplies
  • Prepare, cook, and present meals for a variety of dietary needs
  • Oversee hospitality services for events and visitors
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety
  • Monitor budgets, cash handling, and financial records
  • Ensure minimal food waste and efficient stock control
  • Take part in general cleaning, stocktaking, and kitchen upkeep
  • Work closely with students and staff, fostering a positive canteen environment
Skills & Experience

We"re seeking candidates with practical catering experience and strong leadership skills, with a passion for providing great service. You should enjoy working in a dynamic environment where every day is different and be comfortable interacting with young people and colleagues alike.

Essential Requirements
  • Basic Food Hygiene qualification
  • Experience in a catering environment
  • Budgeting and financial awareness
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (or willingness to achieve with us)
Hours of Work

Monday - Friday, 7.30am - 4pm. Term-time only, 38 weeks of the year.
