Overview

Ready for a Chef role that lets you be creative? Join as a Chef working alongside a dedicated catering team. Become a crucial part of the home team working 40 hours a week, crafting daily meals for Residents, Staff and Visitors. You will also cater for calendar events and special occasions, including World Food Day, Christmas and Easter, with four weekly themed events and Resident choice menus. It’s a calm and pleasurable working environment where you’ll manage your workload and enjoy creating delicious meals while interacting with people outside the kitchen. There is great job satisfaction and a strong work-life balance with home in time for dinner and two days off a week (for full-time).

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Maintain good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
  • Prepare, plan and cook meals to a consistently high standard, accommodating special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
  • Serve Residents, Staff and Visitors with food and beverages in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepare and produce foods for events.
  • Participate in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
  • Adhere to the Safer Food Better Business standards and record keeping.
  • Adhere to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
  • Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
  • Help create new menus ensuring meals are of high quality.
  • Accurately file all paperwork related to HACCP (e.g., fridge temperatures, food temperature logs, cleaning schedules).
Success factors

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be 18 years or older and have the following qualifications and experience.

  • GCSE or equivalent English
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Basic Food Hygiene (essential)
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a similar environment
  • Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budget experience
