Job description

At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Change Control Manager at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site.

As a Change Control Manager, you'll lead the development, implementation and management of robust change control processes across complex, high profile projects within our Naval Nuclear business. This is a critical role that ensures strategic alignment, project integrity and informed decision making - making a real difference to national security and the future of defence engineering.

Day‑to‑day, you'll be responsible for managing a team of change management professionals and operating within a matrix management environment.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the creation and application of change control frameworks and procedures across projects and programmes.
  • Managing and mentoring a small team of project controls professionals, providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Interfacing with Planning, Cost Control and Commercial teams to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to clarify change impacts and secure alignment.
  • Influencing Delivery teams to ensure consistent application of change control processes.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.

Essential Experience
  • Proven experience in project controls or project management, with a focus on change control or commercial management.
  • Ability to manage complex change processes across large-scale projects or programmes.
  • Skilled in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel).
  • Familiarity with project controls systems (e.g., Primavera, CEMAR, SAP).
  • Experience managing or mentoring team members within matrixed organisations.
Qualifications
  • Professional qualification in project management or controls (e.g., APM, PMI, or equivalent).
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
