Job summary

A global engineering group is looking for an experienced CFD Engineer to enhance their UK R&D capability. This hands-on simulation role includes running simulations with Ansys, conducting thermal analyses, and contributing to product design. The ideal candidate should have a degree in engineering, experience with CFD workflows, and strong analytical skills. Qualifications

  • Strong capability across the full CFD workflow: pre-processing, solving and post-processing.
  • Experience with Ansys CFD software (Fluent, CFX or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and ideally refrigeration/heat pump cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Running steady-state and transient CFD simulations in Ansys.
  • Conducting thermal modelling, heat transfer analysis and system performance studies.
  • Supporting design optimisation, prototyping and early-stage product development.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Running steady-state and transient CFD simulations in Ansys (Fluent/CFX)
  • Conducting thermal modelling, heat transfer analysis and system performance studies
  • Performing acoustic simulations on fans, grilles, ducts and rotating components
  • Running icing, defrost and transient refrigerant behaviour simulations
  • Modelling airflow, gas flow and refrigerants across heat pumps and combustion boilers
  • Collaborating with the Ansys Hub Sheffield to enhance simulation depth and capability
  • Supporting design optimisation, prototyping and early-stage product development
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation of market leading products
Desirable
  • Experience of FEA, structural analysis or multi-physics simulation
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Strong capability across the full CFD workflow: pre-processing, solving and post-processing
  • Experience with Ansys CFD software (Fluent, CFX or equivalent)
  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline, with CFD experience in industry or academia
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and ideally refrigeration/heat pump cycles
  • 3D CAD experience (preferably Siemens NX)
  • Analytical, logical problem solver with the ability to assess complex data quickly
  • Strong communicator and relationship builder across technical and non-technical teams
