Overview

ABOUT THE ROLE As a Customer Delivery Porter you'll be the face of the John Lewis & Partners brand. You'll maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety regulations in our customers’ homes.

This non-driver role is a great opportunity for those looking to develop their career in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs. You will need to complete a 13-week Porter training programme and, once completed, you'll be able to successfully install products including wet connections, TV and Advance Audio Installations.

At the end of the 13-weeks you will be assessed on the above elements to obtain your Installer Porter qualification. If you join us from 5th October 2025, in addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 - 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £2.50 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £3.50 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.

Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service as your number one priority.
  • Helping load up your lorry with the days deliveries working alongside the warehouse team.
  • Demonstrating great respect and courtesy for the customer's home and handle unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for your customers.
  • Installing products efficiently and quickly for our customers and demonstrating how they work once installed.
  • Keeping up to date with new products and technologies to help you perform your role at your best.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment.
Essential skills / experience
  • Able to cope with the physical requirements of the role (you will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses).
Desirable skills / experience
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role.
  • Previous experience of the installation of white goods, building of furniture or associated skills.

Pay: £12.45 Hourly

Contract Type: Temporary

Hours of Work: Full Time work (41 hours per week) across four shifts between Monday to Saturday 06:00 - 17:00.
