Job description
Catastrophic Injury Solicitor – Associate / Senior Associate

NEW – Fantastic Associate-level initiative offering flexibility to lawyers to work across national catastrophic injury teams

This is an exciting new initiative aimed at lawyers wanting maximum flexibility to suit their lifestyle and career goals. Perhaps you are at a stage in your career where you are keen to mix quality work with the opportunity to take time off when you choose or complete a sabbatical or spend time with the family.

Perhaps you are looking for a position which will allow you to move internally between casualty teams, building your experience as a complex injury solicitor and working with different Partners in different areas of complex casualty. If so, we would be keen to speak with you.

  • Location: Any UK location including Scotland
  • Working pattern: Hybrid / fully remote
  • Salary: Up to £65,000 (Dependent on Experience)
  • Level: Solicitor or Legal Executive (3+ PQE) – previous complex injury experience

Purpose of the role

This new team has been created to enable Associates to have more flexibility across the firm and for the firm to be able to deploy their skills and resources where they are needed most. All the roles are permanent with an excellent salary package including the full suite of Associate benefits. Where they differ, is the amount of flexibility afforded over and above ‘standard’ Associate positions.

Balancing your career around you - extended leave and sabbatical arrangements

The initiative was initially designed for those wanting a more flexible working arrangement to accommodate a change in circumstance. For instance, those returning from maternity or paternity leave and wanting to spend more time with family or those with care responsibilities for an elderly or impaired relative.

However, the parameters of the initiative have since broadened. The advantages can now be offered to mid-level Associates who are looking for a way to rapidly develop their experience or who wish to blend their career development with sabbaticals away from work in order to pursue their own personal goals.

How it works

These are generally mid-level Associate to Senior Associate roles (3 PQE+). They are all permanent opportunities within the firm offering all the usual benefits. The aim is to develop a team of complex injury lawyers who are able to be deployed where needed most within the firm.

For example, a given catastrophic injury team within the firm may have a requirement for a 12-month maternity cover. Alternatively, they may lose a colleague due to long-term sick leave. Or perhaps the team receives a sudden influx of work from a new client. Whatever the circumstance, the aim is to be able to deploy an Associate who can hit the ground running and help manage the workflow until the need is satisfied.

Once the ‘attachment’ is completed, you are then free to join another team requiring assistance or can alternatively make use of the flexibility afforded to you as part of this opportunity. At all times you remain a permanent employee of the firm.

Key aspects of role

  • All benefits of working in a top tier catastrophic injury team in terms of quality of work, salary and benefits
  • Opportunity to move seamlessly between complex injury teams at a top tier law firm building your experience accordingly
  • Unrivalled flexibility manage your career around you - take time off, extended leave, sabbaticals to achieve you own personal goals
