Job summary

A community care provider is seeking a compassionate Care Assistant to support a 17-year-old with cerebral palsy in the Stanley area, promoting his independence through social activities. The role involves assisting him with public transport and personal care on weekends, with potential for additional hours during school holidays. Care Assistant to support a teenager aged 17 years who lives in the Stanley area

This young man enjoys socialising and would like support to access the community. He has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. He would like to get out and about and engage in activities away from the family home to promote his independence. He has a great sense of humour and enjoys a good joke.

This role is for 4 hours per week (Saturday or Sunday), during term time and 8 hours recall during school holidays, with more flexibility on days during school holidays.

£13 per hour

Duties will include:

  • Assisting this young man to access public transport
  • Supporting with activities and visits of his choice
  • Personal care needs

Additional requirements/information:

  • Experience in supporting with personal care needs desirable
  • Moving and handling experience desirable
  • Willingness to build up a relationship with this young man and promote independence
  • An Advanced DBS will be required
