Job description
Capital Engineering Projects Manager

We are recruiting a Capital Engineering Projects Manager to join the capital team at North Devon District Hospital. The role works with the Deputy Head of Capital Projects to manage the feasibility, design, construction and project management of all capital projects across northern sites, taking lead responsibility for the engineering input to Capital Contracts, including major Trust redevelopment works and backlog requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and technical engineering advice to the Deputy Head of Capital Projects and estate team, ensuring effective budgetary management for capital schemes.
  • Act as the Trust’s authorised/responsible manager for systems including pressure systems, piped medical gases, electrical high‑voltage and low‑voltage systems, reviewing utility consumption at all stages.
  • Ensure compliance with HTMs, HBNs, building regulations, T&C, planning, environmental health, CDM, DDA, privacy and dignity, and other statutory guidance.
  • Manage external consultants and contractors, ensuring documented briefings and review of all work.
  • Participate in the Estates on‑call rota and support the wider senior management team with estate management.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary: £47,810 to £54,710 a year pro rata (Band 7).
  • Full‑time permanent contract, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with on‑call rota.
  • 27 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days for NHS staff.
