Overview
The post holder will be a care coordinator responsible for assessing and treating a range of mental health and significant behavioural difficulties in children and young people referred to the team. The successful candidate will work within the Horizon Generic team, a large generic team within Lewisham CAMHS, delivering treatment and assessment. This clinical post expects approximately 75% of time spent in clinical practice. Flexible working is available as part of our new ways of working, and flexible options can be discussed at interview.
Responsibilities
- Carry out risk assessments with children, young people and their families routinely under supervision of the team manager and senior clinical supervisor to manage these situations effectively.
- Be part of the daily duty rota for the service, including screening and managing new referrals, telephone queries and supporting the team as required.
- Collaborate with other CAMHS practitioners in the service from all disciplines and participate in internal and external professional networks to ensure care plans across agencies are coordinated efficiently and effectively.
- Contribute to the accurate recording and reporting of client contact, ensuring documentation meets CAMHS and professional standards of record keeping. Collect and collate information about individual clinical activity on ePJS.
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and work with the team and clients to sustain high operational standards in clinical systems.
- Link with other statutory and voluntary agencies and CAMHS teams for referrals and joint work; maintain good relationships and clear communication with professional agencies and departments, offering specialist advice and support where appropriate.
- Participate in the effective functioning of the team and service through attendance at relevant meetings and taking responsibilities within the service as negotiated with the line manager.
- Supervise junior team members (Band 5–6) or trainees from any discipline as required.
Requirements and Skills
If trained in cognitive behavioural therapy, play therapy, or art therapy, you may apply for this post and these clinical skills will be considered an asset for the Horizon team. This role is a clinical post with 75% clinical time expectation.
