Job description

For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.

Job Description

Be part of Red Bull Powertrains, where we push the boundaries of engineering and innovation to develop and produce cutting‑edge Formula 1 power units. If you’re a driven engineer, technical specialist, or problem‑solver, this is your opportunity to help shape the next era of high‑performance motorsport. Are you ready to make an impact?

Working from our Milton Keynes factory you will be integrated within the Calibration and Controls Department of Red Bull Powertrains 2026. Tasked to deliver the maximum performance potential to the podium, your group will work closely with all teams within Red Bull Powertrains and beyond to ensure that race and championship‑winning PU performance and reliability are delivered. With the opportunity to be involved in multiple systems, a broad experience across all areas of hybrid racing power unit calibration development is advantageous.

To fulfil this PU Calibration Engineer position you will have the following accountabilities:

Essential
  • Generate new PU calibration and control ideas and strategies that demonstrate potential laptime benefits. To develop those ideas via modelling, rig and PU dyno tests and to ultimately deliver the laptime benefit to the track
  • Plan, execute and report calibration and data analysis activities on ICE and PU dynamometers and component test rigs
  • Perform model based calibration activities to optimise trade‑offs and generate required tables and variables
  • Interact with the calibration database including supply of calibration tables and variables to support PU operation
  • Execute problem investigations, implement mitigations, and confirm resolutions
  • Develop methods and techniques for improved efficiency and data quality
  • Develop software tools for data handling and analysis
  • Support control strategy and code development for improved PU performance
  • Support PU thermodynamic, performance, durability and confirmation test activities
Additional Accountabilities
  • Provide flexible attendance in line with the requirements of the role and carry out any other reasonable duties as required
  • At all times work in a professional manner, proactively promote a positive image for the department, team, and sponsors, and ensure that any task assigned to you is completed thoroughly and to the highest standard
  • Display and maintain the highest standards of personal conduct
  • At all times understand and respect the confidentiality of company intellectual property, assets, procedures, and operational structures
Key Attributes for this Calibration Engineer role
  • An Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • Thorough understanding of internal combustion engine operation and thermodynamic principles and PU control methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience of applying engineering methodology to solving problems
  • Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience of PU dynamometer testing, data analysis and calibration data generation
  • Experience of interpreting and summarising data, and producing technical reports
  • Experience of calibration preparation and dataset management

Joining us means being part of a high‑performance team that thrives on collaboration, trust, and ambition. We celebrate wins, learn from challenges, and take our work seriously—but not ourselves. Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy:

  • Bonuses
