Job summary

A leading construction firm in the UK is seeking a CAD Technician to join their technical team. The role involves preparing detailed designs for development infrastructure and managing projects while supporting team members. Ideal candidates will have a civil engineering degree, experience in a consultancy or house builder, and strong IT skills including AutoCAD. This position offers a competitive daily rate and is available for immediate start.

Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience within an engineer role, with a consultancy background or house builder with In-House design.
  • Ideally MICE chartered or Incorporated. Highways and Water/Drainage backgrounds are also relevant.
  • Experience of creating detailed designs of infrastructure, foundations, highways, drainage and external work in housing developments.
  • Strong IT skills including knowledge of packages as Microsoft, AutoCAD, PDS and FLOW (or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Preparing details designs for development infrastructure, including site layouts, highways, services, drainage, foundations and legal plans.
  • 3D earthworks and cut/fill appraisals.
  • Managing own development projects and co-ordinating the process at all stages.
  • Preparing, submitting and closing out of relevant applications including S278/S104/S106, building regulations and planning conditions.
  • Supporting junior members of the team, playing a key role in their mentoring and development.
  • Visiting site throughout the design and build process to support on technical queries and seeing the progression of development.

About the role of CAD Technician

The desired candidate will be within a commutable distance of Caterham with the most convenient train station to the vacancy being Caterham Rail Station.

The role includes a Freelance or Temp to Perm contract proposed, and an extremely competitive daily rate offered depending on experience.
