Job summary

A prominent recruitment firm is seeking a CAD operator for a site-based contract in Grahamston, Scotland, lasting around 4 months. Job description

Our client has a contract opportunity for CAD operator – Grangemouth. This will be a site‑based contract, duration ~4 months, likely to extend. The CAD operator will report to the Engineering Manager.

Duties & Experience
  • Maintain the site’s master drawings following project or minor plant modification delivery.
  • Own and develop site drawing format and standards.
  • Serve as source of CAD expertise.
  • Update master drawings for 20‑30 projects per year, several thousand drawings annually.
  • Work in a dynamic environment and adapt to frequent project changes.
  • Ensure accuracy and effectiveness in electronic drafting.
  • Maintain, support and operate associated plotters and printers.
  • Perform drawing and technology research.
  • Coordinate with designers / asset engineers to allocate tags, equipment and drawing numbers and update the relevant databases/systems.
  • Ensure all master/critical drawings are formatted, layered and created in line with company and international standards.
  • Update master drawings following delivery of a project or minor plant modification in line with 3rd party engineering dossiers or plant mods, including unspecified but related drawings.
  • Interact with designers, project managers, engineers, operations and other personnel to incorporate concepts and information into drawing packages.
  • Re‑layout master drawings as required to ensure legibility.
  • Lead maintenance and development of the CAD environment for the site.
  • Lead development of company standards for drawings.
  • AutoCAD expert, Alfresco & Maximo user.
Qualifications
  • ONC/HNC qualified or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • AutoCAD user with a completed accredited course.
  • High level of IT skills.
  • Highly organised in handling large amounts of drawings and associated data.
