Job summary

A leading procurement organization in Shrewsbury is seeking a proactive Buyer to manage the procurement of electro-mechanical parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will need at least 2 years of experience in procurement and strong communication skills. This full-time position offers regular working hours from Monday to Friday. Buyer

Location: Local to Shrewsbury area

Orion are looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Buyer who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and remains calm under pressure.

As Buyer you will be working part of a team with responsibility for buying a range of electro‑mechanical parts for production, this will include metal work electronics through to electrical items.

Buyer responsibilities
  • Execute daily procurement activities with speed and accuracy to keep production lines running.
  • Sources competitive quotes, evaluates supplier options, and raises purchase orders promptly.
  • Monitors delivery schedules to prevent downtime and ensures materials meet strict quality and specification standards.
  • Quickly resolves issues related to pricing, delivery delays, or product non‑conformance to maintain workflow continuity.
  • Tracks and expedites deliveries, proactively following up with suppliers to avoid production delays.
  • Organizes and manages procurement documentation, including purchase orders and project files, ensuring full traceability.
Buyer Experience
  • 2 years' experience in procurement or purchasing within an engineering and manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience with MRP/ERP/SAP systems
  • Electro‑mechanical purchasing experience
  • High attention to detail and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to stay composed and effective under pressure
