Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Severn Beach is looking for an experienced Buyer to manage the purchasing process, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure timely production schedules. The ideal candidate will have a CIPS qualification and experience with MRP systems. The role offers a competitive rate of up to £20ph, along with 25 days of holiday and a 6-month contract.

BMR Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Severn Beach, Bristol.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation where you will be responsible for managing the full purchasing process — from placing and expediting orders through to supplier management and issue resolution. You will be instrumental in ensuring production schedules are met through effective procurement planning and communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Place and expedite purchase orders in line with MRP demand.
• Negotiate lead times, pricing, and quality with approved suppliers.
• Maintain accurate MRP data and resolve supplier or invoice queries.
• Support commodity strategy improvements to reduce cost and risk.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure on-time delivery.

Skills & Experience

• CIPS Level 4 or equivalent purchasing qualification (or qualified by experience).
• MRP/ERP experience - ideally JD Edwards E1, SAP, or Oracle.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills.
• Proven background in engineering/manufacturing procurement.
