Job Title: Buyer Construction

Location: Liverpool, L24

Salary: Competitive + Bonus

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Opportunity

Our client, a leading UK housebuilder with a national presence and strong local roots, is seeking a proactive Regional Buyer to join their North West team. This is a key role supporting the commercial team by ensuring materials are efficiently sourced, scheduled, and delivered to support high-quality housing developments.

About the Role

You will be responsible for managing the material procurement process across multiple schemes, maintaining accurate budgets, schedules, and cost records, and contributing to the regional business plan. You ll build strong supplier relationships, track market price fluctuations, and ensure materials are delivered to site on time and within specification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide scheme specific material budgets for site start processes.
  • Place bulk and ad hoc material orders to meet business needs.
  • Resolve supplier issues to ensure timely delivery to sites.
  • Produce accurate material take-offs and schedules.
  • Maintain up-to-date databases of material schedules and costs.
  • Support strategic procurement frameworks and regional commercial objectives.
  • Track material cost fluctuations and highlight adjustments to the commercial team.
  • Contribute to improving procurement processes and cost efficiency.
  • Support the Accounts team with invoice queries and reconciliation.
  • Participate in supply chain meetings, sharing best practice and upskilling colleagues.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential:
  • Flexible, agile approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills.
  • Strong numeracy and commercial awareness.
  • Proficient in MS Office and able to read construction drawings/specifications.
  • Ability to take-off materials and create schedules.
  • Construction-related qualification (ONC/HNC) and working towards a professional procurement qualification.
Desirable:
  • Experience in people management or covering a senior role.
  • Knowledge of succession planning and talent mapping.
