Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a purchasing/procurement role.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Experience with a MRP system is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate prices and lead times for components.
  • Schedule deliveries to ensure availability of products.
  • Ensure purchased goods meet required specifications.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues.
  • Track goods sent out for rework.
  • Manage call off orders for long lead time items.
  • Perform other relevant duties.

Our client, a leading manufacturing business in the local area, is looking to recruit a Buyer to join their team. The successful candidate will join a growing and successful business and be responsible for ensuring parts, materials and components required for production are readily available.

The Role
  • Negotiate prices and lead times for parts, materials and components
  • Scheduling deliveries ensuring products required for production are available
  • Ensure all purchased goods meet required specifications
  • Develop, improve and build strong supplier relationships
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any reoccurring issues
  • Track progress and manage goods sent out for rework
  • Managing call off orders for long lead time items
  • Other relevant duties
Essential Criteria
  • A minimum (2) years + experience in a purchasing / procurement role
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • The ability to work both alone and as part of a team
  • Previous experience in working with a MRP system
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills
