Overview

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Business Information Security Analyst to join our Information Security team on a permanent basis in London. Reporting to the Head of Data Protection and Compliance, you''ll be joining a team at the heart of Penguin Random House, helping to strengthen how we protect our information and data. This role plays a key part in improving our overall information security position, making sure the right controls are in place and working effectively to manage risks to the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information.

Responsibilities
  • Support the assessment and management of information security risks by analysing data, reviewing systems and controls, and helping to develop practical risk treatment plans in line with recognised security frameworks.
  • Work with colleagues across the business, as well as suppliers and external partners, to gather and review security and privacy evidence, support compliance requirements, and coordinate routine third-party security testing.
  • Contribute to security and compliance assessments for new projects and initiatives, helping to facilitate discussions with stakeholders, gather expert input, and provide clear guidance on information security considerations.
  • Help monitor and report on key information security and data protection activities, including data subject rights requests, incidents and compliance activities, ensuring accurate records are maintained to support decision-making.
  • Support the development, maintenance and continual improvement of information security policies, standards, processes and tools, keeping them up to date and relevant for the business.
  • Play an active role in building security awareness across Penguin Random House, helping to deliver training, phishing simulations and communications, and measuring their effectiveness to ensure they make a real impact.
What you''ll bring
  • A genuine interest in Information Security as a career, with curiosity about how organisations protect information and manage risk, and a strong commitment to learning and self-development.
  • A background in data analysis or experience working with data and spreadsheets, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, and an analytical mindset that supports clear, well-reasoned decision making.
  • The ability to interpret information, identify key points and present findings clearly, helping others to understand risks, issues and options.
  • Confidence working with a wide range of people and teams, communicating across different channels and building positive, collaborative relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex or technical topics in a clear and straightforward way.
  • A proactive, team-focused approach, with the enthusiasm to get stuck in, take ownership of work and contribute to shared goals.
