Business Controller / Management Accountant

Salary: £35 - £35/hour + AP Grade and above - Entitled to paid overtime over 35 hours

Contract: 12-month contract; 35 hours per week; £35/hour PAYE (£46.82 via Umbrella); Inside IR35

We currently have a requirement for an experienced Business Controller to work with a prestigious aerospace client based in Belfast. The role requires strong finance business partnering skills along with management accounting experience.

The work is varied and demands strong analytical skills. It includes both recurring and ad-hoc activities, with a focus on process improvement and project-based opportunities.

The postholder will be based on-site, with potential for hybrid working after training, requiring 3 days on-site per week.

Responsibilities
  • Support the central controlling teams in driving the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes across all business units, ensuring robust financial planning aligned with company objectives.
  • Collaborate with local business and operational managers to define and propose improvement projects for inclusion in the budget, validating financial information such as sizing, business cases, and ROI for decision-making.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to local and central teams to monitor performance and identify potential risks early.
  • Challenge operational performance and advise management on achieving targets through improvement measures and risk mitigation.
  • Participate in assessing business cases and proposals for operational investments and performance projects, ensuring assumptions are challenged and evaluated financially.
  • Perform financial controlling activities in categories such as recurring costs, inventory, non-recurring costs, and Capex Jigs/Tools as requested.
Skill Set
  • Essential: Qualified Accountant (CIMA preferred), with at least 2 years PQE in manufacturing or a commercial environment.
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent financial reporting tools.
  • Ability to work proactively within a dynamic team and communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders and countries.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
