Business Change Analyst

Location: Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1A 1AA + Lambeth & other Royal Household sites

Contract: 12 month fixed term contract with potential extension

Hours: 36 hours per week, 4 days on site required

Pay Rate: £440 day rate

About the Role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Met Police’s Royalty & Specialist Protection (RaSP) command, supporting the future of Residential Protection for the Royal Household. Working directly with the Senior Leadership Team, you will analyse demand, resources and performance across multiple residential sites, helping leaders make informed decisions on how to deploy and optimise specialist protective teams.

The role involves building demand models, creating performance frameworks, producing high‑quality data visualisations, and delivering insightful written and verbal reporting to senior leaders. You will operate autonomously in a highly sensitive environment, shaping the way Residential Protection services are delivered across iconic and high‑profile locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a new demand analysis framework for RaSP Residential Protection teams.
  • Build demand forecasts, identify resource requirements, and highlight gaps or surge needs.
  • Lead the creation and publication of monthly/quarterly performance reports and data visualisations.
  • Present analytical findings to senior leaders, simplifying complex datasets into accessible insights.
  • Clean, validate and manipulate large datasets using Excel, Power Query and data visualisation tools.
  • Support business case development, horizon scanning and design activity across the change lifecycle.
  • Provide assurance on change initiatives to ensure alignment with strategic direction.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders in policing, security and government.
  • Ensure all data management meets GDPR and secure handling requirements.
  • Support RaSP operations as required, including occasional deployment to UK events.
Essential skills and experience
  • Professional Business Analyst qualification (e.g., BCS BA Diploma, IIBA or equivalent) OR Degree or equivalent experience in a data or performance analysis discipline.
  • Strong experience using quantitative and qualitative datasets to shape decision‑making.
  • Experience working within policing, security, government, intelligence, or public sector environments.
  • Ability to work independently as the sole Business Analyst in a complex, sensitive setting.
  • Proven experience presenting insights to senior leaders in both written and verbal formats.
  • Advanced Excel skills (cleaning, manipulation, formulas, Power Query).
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of demand forecasting, capacity modelling and business operating models.
  • Skilled in formal BA methodologies throughout the change lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to identify trends, patterns and anomalies in complex datasets.
  • Comfortable navigating challenging environments with a degree of resistance to change.
  • Willingness to travel to UK sites, including London, Windsor and occasional trips to Scotland (all travel covered).
