Job Title

Business Analyst / Systems Analyst / Subject Matter Expert

Location

London – Hanger Lane or Grays Inn Road

Working Pattern

Full time / Permanent / Hybrid (minimum of two days in the office). This is a full‑time permanent position based in our London office. We operate on a hybrid working arrangement and welcome all applications from those with the legal right to live and work permanently in the UK, without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Role Description

Working as part of the central team, the role involves providing subject‑matter expertise to the development team of our core TV audience measurement backend processing system. This system is a key part of the overall Kantar solution to process meter data capturing audio and other measurement techniques from the panel home, to match it against a set of channel references and ultimately, through the backend processing system, provide a coherent and accurate report on what people are watching on their TV, possibly through other devices. The system is modular, with data being processed and edited through various stages, but has complexities in how viewing data is transformed from data collection to final output.

Role Responsibilities
  • Work with the Product team to help design solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and Agile team to take items from the Product Backlog and assist in writing clear specifications for development.
  • Support testing and validation to ensure the final solution meets requirements.
  • Work with service and central teams to help resolve data queries and issues.
  • Maintain documentation in tools like Confluence.
  • Learn from senior team members and apply domain knowledge to guide your work.
  • Contribute to team tasks and help prioritise work under guidance.
  • Participate in team meetings and communicate progress clearly.
Required
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to write clear and precise specifications (step‑by‑step logic where needed).
  • Comfortable explaining technical issues in simple terms to different stakeholders.
  • Scripting knowledge (Python or AWK) for data analysis.
  • SQL for accessing and analysing Oracle DB data.
  • Familiarity with Unix commands.
  • Self‑motivated and able to learn using available resources (people, documentation, Confluence). Interest in learning market‑research methods and practices.
  • Ability to analyse UI solutions and suggest improvements based on feedback.
Desirable
  • Experience working in Agile teams.
  • Awareness of cloud environments (e.g., Azure) and tools like Storage Explorer.
  • Basic understanding of Business Analysis.
  • Good writing ability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn software design principles.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
