Job Summary
In this role, you’ll be working closely with other members of the Strategic Waste Management and Enforcement team, with a particular focus on the day‑to‑day management of the key council waste contracts. Your work activities will focus on some of the following key areas:
Responsibilities
- Waste contract monitoring
- Site inspections at the following locations:
- 10 household recycling centres
- High Heavens waste complex
- Energy from waste facility
- Waste audits at 30+ waste end‑destination points
- Closed landfill sites
- Record and report waste data using the council’s Waste Data Management System and Waste Data Flow
- Support procurement of new waste service contracts, delivery of waste capital schemes/infrastructure projects and communication/behaviour change campaigns
- Use various IT packages (MS Office or equivalent) to write letters/emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data
- Produce accurate records and documents – emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals – and recommend improvements
- Exercise proactivity and good judgment, make effective decisions and seek advice when appropriate
- Build and maintain positive relationships within the team and across the organisation, influencing and challenging appropriately
- Demonstrate good communication skills across face‑to‑face, telephone, writing and digital platforms, using the most appropriate channels
- Complete tasks to a high standard, review processes and suggest improvements, coach others, and apply problem‑solving skills to resolve challenging or complex complaints
- Take responsibility for initiating and completing tasks, manage priorities, time and resources, organise meetings and events, and handle logistics such as travel and accommodation
- Use relevant project management principles and tools to scope, plan, monitor and report on projects, undertaking and leading projects as required
Qualifications and Experience
- GCSE in English (grade A‑C/9‑4) and Maths (grade A‑C/9‑4)

- Will be undertaking a level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration (work‑based training and apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect prior knowledge)
