About the role

You will drive a lorry from our fleet of Volvo vehicles (all less than 4 years old). They’re a joy to drive and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many other features to keep you comfortable.

Most sites run from Monday to Friday with a 45 hour week and 9-hour shifts beginning around 7/8am. Our well-organised shift schedules help you know in advance where you’ll be driving, reducing day-to-day stress.

The role provides job security within a growing, global business. We operate a busy fleet, so there’s always work available. If you want additional hours, you can have them, with enhanced pay for bank holidays and night-time hours (10pm-6am). You’ll join a friendly team—our drivers stay with us for many years and we share traffic updates via WhatsApp to support one another.

Key Responsibilities

• We don’t micromanage drivers; plan your own routes with an average of 4 to 6 stops per shift, giving you time to enjoy being on the road while ensuring you’re home at the end of each 9-hour shift.
• Ensure cages, pallets, freight, stillages and yorks are delivered to and collected from customers on time. Some sites load/unload; at others you may need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks may be part of your day.
• Inspect your vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
• Ensure everything is “right first time” for internal and external customers, and communicate effectively to keep customers happy. If you cannot answer a query, escalate to the site manager promptly.

Qualifications

• Class 1 Driving licence
• Driver CPC qualification card
• Completed required DCPC training hours or working towards them
• Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and commitment to safe road use
• A positive, can-do attitude
